Ah, but have you ever turned to the back page first ?

Once. But only after I'd determined I wasn't going to finish the book anyway.
In casual conversation, I've learned (purposely or otherwise) a lot of ancillary tidbits before starting many, many books. And not one of those details has ever "spoiled" my enjoyment of a good book.
By the way, I'm not making fun of people who want to remain relatively spoiler free, I'm making fun of the ones who go overboard—you know the ones I mean. The ones who actively participate in threads about the book telling everyone to spoiler that... "you should spoiler that just in case." The ones who think that chapter titles, page counts and jacket blurbs are spoilers.
I'm not walking on pins and needles for those kinds of people. Take responsibility for your own reading enjoyment. If you need to enter a book under that kind of vacuum, then stay out of the areas of the internet where things like that are likely to be discussed until you've finished. And as it turns out, your enjoyment may not be in jeopardy in the first place.
