I think Sony was actually the first to provide an iTunes like book reader experience. Where they fell down was not enough content and prices higher than pbooks.

Amazon was willing to loose money on the ebooks and also was able to get alot more content. I think Sony is working to correct this. We'll just have to see how it shakes out.

This I think is also why the CyBook is more. They don't have any back-end revenue stream hooked to their readers, so they have to make profit on every unit sold. They also have to have more features than others to be able to justify the extra price, compared to the Sony for example.
