the specs say Video playback time - up to 7 hours, Music playback time - up to 42 hours
I seem to be getting about 6 hours or more but I haven't just let it run down playing a movie to see what it would do. There is a lock switch that kills the display but music will still play. I keep the backlight fairly low most of the time. For maximum life also turn off the wi-fi.
