Good grief! To hear some people on this thread talk you'd think a Kindle is made of porcelain. I've got a K3 that I've had since Christmas of last year. I have an EcoNique hemp book-style cover that I use when I travel, as I tend to keep it in my laptop bag and fully expect power cables, serial and comms cables, and plugs of various sorts (of which there are probably over a dozen varieties in my bag at any one time) to put the screen at risk of damage.
That being said, I nearly always read my Kindle naked as it's a more pleasurable experience for me. I leave it lying about the house naked, and I've got a 3-year old daughter. But you know what, she tends to leave it alone. She's been taught. And when she does pick it up, it doesn't get banged about like a hammer...she just looks at it. I don't have a heart attack...I simply remind her that she doesn't touch that...and she puts it back down.
I know that we must protect our investments. I know that electronic devices are particularly fiddly. But really, people...I'd hate to be in your shoes. I'd be a nervous wreck.
At the end of the day, it's just "stuff". Stuff can be replaced.
