alright, i have tried renaming the file (it was called update.zip.9) and even when i held down the menu and rotate, or power and rotate buttons the PE still didn't update and booted normally. I have always put the file in the root. As for ivanjt's link, the download link there is dead ( i got the same file from someone else) and following the 10th post's instructions the pe booted up normally.
