Tablets, pretty much by definition, require more horsepower, and are thus inherently more expensive. Wait for tablet prices to come down? Sure. But ebook reader prices will come down, too. When Tablets are the $100-150 price that book readers are now, book readers will be $25-50.
If all you want is to read books, there will never come a time when a tablet will be as cheap.
