I don't see everything in black and white, so giving a 4- or even 3-star rating to a book I enjoyed isn't an problem for me. Just because I enjoyed it doesn't mean it was flawless. Moreover, I don't enjoy all books to the same degree.

When I leave a review, I try to indicate what it was that made me enjoy that book less (or more) than another. I note what flaws, if any, I discovered. I know that information may be important to other readers, and I would be doing them a disservice if I simply ignored it.

Not all books are equal. Not all good books are equal. I will continue to note flaws and qualities in my reviews so that others can use the information to make decisions about what to read next, or at all. Otherwise, I might as well just be hitting a Facebook "LIKE" button.
