Get the NOOK. It's easier to navigate, it loads quicker, BN's bookstore has more books than Amazon's.. you said you're a geek, you'll have a lot of fun rooting and playing around with the Nook. You also said you liked touchscreens, the Nook has one, the kindle doesn't.
My Kindle 3 was a gift, or I'd of purchased the Nook. Get the Nook.
