Yeah - no exertion/exercise outdoors - esp. for old codgers!
The stink was awful here from the NC coastal peat fires. The days we were under alert, I was only outside just from car to workplace, car to home - but I coughed for over a week afterwards. It was some toxic smoke - really irritated my throat. If you have to be outside, consider wearing a filter mask rated for smoke particles.
