They would have to be optional if Apple plans on eliminating the iPod Touch line-up. I'm thinking along the lines of an unlocked phone that you could put any SIM card into but will still work like an iTouch if one is not installed. If it's possible to buy unlocked phones for $50, I don't imagine adding phone capabilities to the iTouch would cost much more. It might be fatter than the current 4th gen iTouch, though.
