95% of kindle owners are most likely unaware of any "lock-in" or the mobi-vs-epub debate. And why would they even care, they can get all the same books at the same prices (agency) non agency books are usually cheaper at amazon and they often have titles not available elsewhere.

The small percentage of people who would be affected by any vendor lock-in probably also know about removing DRM and converting. It is really a non-issue that you love to harp on.
Plus, he seems to have missed my (very obvious) ironic tone.

I also prefer more "open" devices, but JSwolf is just a tad bit overzealous even for me.
