Let's Play Ball by Linda Gould

Product Description
Miranda is a bright woman with an important government job, a nice home, and a prominent lawyer husband. Her fraternal twin sister, Jessica, is a sportswriter who has spent years sacrificing her social life and conventional career prospects to establish a magazine. However, Miranda envies Jessica's seemingly perfect relationship with her Cuban-born, baseball-playing fiancé, Manny. She can't help comparing their exciting love story to her own deteriorating relationship with her husband, Tommy.

When Manny disappears, his ex-wife, Guadalupe, takes responsibility in a televised address from Cuba. But as the weeks pass, Jessica's wide-ranging suspicions include baseball owners Johnson Carter and Javy Castilla, who seemed to have benefited from the crime, and two of Manny's "redneck" teammates, Wilson Boyd and Petie Jansen, who are members of a local militia-style group. Miranda's and Tommy's prior friendship with Boyd and Jansen also raises Jessica's ire.

Sensing that everyone involved in investigating the crime, including the local police, the FBI, and even Jessica, is headed down the wrong track, Miranda determines to uncover the truth herself--no matter how risky this proves to be, or who is exposed in the process.
