The latest version of CoolReader on SourceForge is cr3.0.49-9.apk. Anyway, I just tried loading an MS *.DOC file using the latest version of CoolReader on the Market(CoolReader 3.0.49-5), and it shows up fine on the SD card and also loads and views OK. I do not have an actual book in DOC format, so I do not know how well it does document formatting with the DOC format. Are you sure that you are not trying to read DOCX format?

An Android APK files is a ZIP file with very specific contents, just like an EPUB is a ZIP file with specific contents.
