the beauty of the linux prebuilds was, that depending on the distro one uses the Qt dependancies when building from source as a user might trigger a whole load of KDE stuff not needed by Sigil itself - if you don't use KDE it's annoying.
Valloric had his linux builds done in a way to avoid that.
And since is proven, that the linux version performs better, people having even both OSems up and running prefer the linux variant
