Regarding the battery; I wanted to remove that as well when I was doing my teardown but they glued that sucker in there super tight. I manged to get one edge lose but I was afraid that I would break something if I continued on.
Damn! And I was just thinking that it looked like it was going to be an easy job to replace the batt as the board connection didn't look soldered.

There you go! MANY of us are tired of companies who cynically make the rechargeable batts for their devices non-easily user replaceable. Some of my devices get used for years, and it irks me how many newer devices seemed to be designed to force most users into buying a new unit or paying some ridiculous charge to the company to do the batt change.
