I am too poor to buy cheap things. All the stuff I buy is extremely expensive and well made. Often hand-made shoes, always good handbags, sunglasses and clothes. I spent 450€ on that Miyake piece but it is a timeless one that is very versatile. And I don't own much.
The Burberrys (navy, light blue and red)were bought in the 80s and 90s, too, and Aquascutums (both creme, but different cuts) in the last decade. All still going strong and I am very often asked, how I manage to show up in a different raincoat each day of the week
My two favourite handbags (one brown, one black) are from Longchamps, bought in 1992 and still look like new even though I wear them constantly. For rainy days I use a Fendi bag I got in the early ninties so I don't screw the calf leather of the Longchamps.
My furniture is Antiques, the couch about 200 years old. I bought it in 1993 and only changed the fabric on it once because I moved in 2001 and wanted another color scheme in my new flat.
One thing apart from buying timeless pieces is for caring and mending your stuff. And it also helps if you like to clean shoes, buy good shoe trees, learn to air your clothes and to brush the dust off them.
