I struggle with some of Mercedes Lackey's books. I very much enjoyed the first few "Valdemar" books, and I have absolutely no problems whatsoever with homosexual characters in books. But after a while, it seemed as though the homosexual elements of the books were becoming an "agenda" rather than simply being a part of the story, and I didn't like that at all. I stopped reading her books at that point.
