Trying to root Nook STR having difficulty with ADB

The rooting process seems simple enough until the guide says to use ADB.

1)I dont see any descent guide on how to use adb and if I can use it at all.
I dont have a wireless NIC - only a wireless router. Can I still use ADB?

What is up with all that sideloading apps info? does this mean that I cannot install Android apps on the rooted nook as simply as I do it on my phone though usb connection or android market? Does this mean that I have to use this ADB stuff to install EVERY app?

What is up with them saying that I can only install one app at the time? People on you-tube have dozens of apps on their rooted nooks...

2)The first step that requires formatting the sd card and installing stuff on it. I dont have a card reader, can I do everything with the card inside the nook?

It seems like the guide is implying that the card must be formatted and written to when NOT inside the nook?

Please help me!
