7) I want to be able to read absolutely any book I come across without needing to wory about the format of the book - Pocket Book Lite. Or, any reader + calibre

If I were out shopping again, I would be considering the Sony PRS-350/650 or the Nook Simple Touch. Great e-ink screens with associated long battery life, touch screen. The Sony's are more premium priced, but I think they are built better and are nicer-looking. If price were the main consideration, I'd go with the NST.
