Ccleaner is very reliable in my experience, it does NOT remove anything that it shouldn't

I said nothing about it specifically being Ccleaner, I merely suggested that some disk cleanup tools run on aggressive settings are a potential cause. That you don't believe it caused your particular problem instance is perfectly fine. However the point is that it is nothing to do with a particular version of the Calibre installer, and everything to do with your Windows system losing track of where the installer for the previous version was. Whether that was because you ran something that deleted it, some Windows update or just random bitrot I don't have the foggiest idea nor do I care.
As for the "logic test", I think you failed your own test. The point was that "some event" happened, I did not say that event happened every week or in any way know about your Ccleaner schedule. As for why the OP needed the 0.7.46 installer - so what? In all likelihood that was the version they were updating from which surely just reinforces the point that it could happen at any time and is nothing to do with being specific to a version of the Calibre installer.
I think itimpi and I are on the same wavelength anyways.
