I love GoodReads as well. I use it to organize my To-Read lists and archive reviews of books read. I'm also active in one of the forums.
As for trusting the reviews, I still prefer Amazon. With Amazon there's instant comparison between good and bad reviews of the same book, and I find them better thought out because reviewers keep in mind that their post could persuade/dissuade a reader from buying a book.
With Goodreads, it's a lot harder to sift through and find the 'smart' reviews.
