Thank you for this information. I was not aware of the technical/legal requirements to do business with DRM ebooks. Seriously.
I suppose it is a problem. How does a company protect its copyright in a nation where there are no national ID cards? I suppose one could use passports (intended for international travel), drivers licenses (supposedly for driving though they are defacto national ID in Canada and USA I presume, it's nothing like the safety licence it's supposed to be - instead it's used as a police record ID) or SIN in Canada / SSN in USA (supposedly for taxes and Federal programs though it has increasingly become a non-required requirement, i.e. you can refuse to give it to businesses and they have the right to refuse to do business with you - so much for privacy law!
As a soveriegn individual I resist every step by the state and corporations to file me. But I dó want to support authors and publisher. So it is indeed a philosphic/political challenge of how to do business privately and effectively in the new world order of monopoly capitalism and criminal gangs (especially goverments, the most well armed and well financed thugs).
