I compared a black Kobo Touch and a white Kobo Touch side-by-side in a Chapters store today. No question: the screen looks brighter on the black unit. Yes, it's an optical illusion, but that doesn't make the effect any less significant. My wife could see the difference at a glance, too. I bought the black.
