I have read of people reading in bed, falling asleep and finding the reader on the floor. Do you want to do that with a naked K3? You may say to yourself it's fine to go naked if I don't do this, that, or the other thing. But there is no way you can be 100% sure you won't do something that will cause your k3 to hit a hard surface.

snort. Or maybe somebody just doesn't like having a cover on their reader. I mean seriously, accidental damage insurance is cheaper than most covers that are sold.
Or maybe the user is just like me and knows that if they break it they can just buy another one. I mean, I don't throw $99 away on a regular basis but I could afford to replace my Kindle if I needed to without depriving my children of shoes or vegetables for dinner.
