Not everyone has a library, though. Hellmark summed it up, as I actually live in the same city (St. Louis).
And the fee to join one is approaching that of an e-reader. Usually $50-60 a year.
By contrast though, when I just went to college in Florida, the County library system there was happy to give me a library card for free.
