Just as a point of interest, my wife was having frequent problems with the Kobo's memory becoming corrupted, and it turns out the problem was that she had multiple programs open at the same time when accessing her Kobo from her computer. I'm betting this is the problem most people are actually having - not ejecting their Kobo between program instances (even instances of the same program if you have to reopen the program for some reason).
