Luckily I knew for 99% certain it was a smoke alarm, the question was which one of the three. Of course it was the one least accessible. I managed to pry it off its base this morning. We had only one 9 volt battery left in stock (our store sells them) but had no customers for it today. I already put in the new battery and clicked it back on its base, luckily clicking it on is much easier than taking it off.
