Do some digging in the developer section. The 3.2.1 has a jailbreak and there are a few methods, some with terminal programs, and one I developed that anyone can do, to jailbreak the Special Offer model and allow screen saver hacks.

I agree, one of the stupidest things Amazon did was to omit a simple way to change screen savers Remarkably B&N did this the right way with their original nook. Go figure.
