My point was, if there *is* a brick, it's usually going to do some kind of power conversion for you. (But you have to read it for the specifics.) Usually only an adapter to fit in the right holes is needed.

Things like small appliances, blenders, coffee grinders etc. that only have a cord (no brick halfway down or brick at the plug itself) generally aren't prepared to be plugged into foreign outlets without a separate transformer.

Like I said, just a quick way of estimating to a high probability whether or not you're likely to need more than just an adapter.
