Hmmmm, depends.

I would say to go for any of those leather kind of ones (I wouldn't go for the sleeve kind of ones). Leather covers are pretty resistant to small impacts.
The thing is, due to the shape of the kindle, its not so resistant to twisting forces.
And I would be careful with my backpack if I know I'm carrying my kindle.
I didn't got my Kindle out of the house until I got myself a cover, because i was sure I would break it.
