I have both the v2 and v1. The back cover changed between versions.
On v1 there is a recessed area in the upper back both to the right and left of midline, so that there is a bulge on the back where the stylus rests.
On v2 almost the entire upper back cover is flat, the stylus holder does not project out as a 'hump'.
Wish I had a photo, no one took a photo of the back of the device in the photo threads on this board.
