This reminds me of the early 50's and the Civil Rights movement giving the vote to Negro in the South. The Federal government said that everyone had the right to vote. Local governments said that voters had to pass a Literacy Test. At the voting polls, Negros were shown a newspaper and told to read the headline. However, the newspapers they were shown were Chinese newspapers... Being shown one and asked what the headlines said, one old ex-slave replied; "It says 'Blacks don't get to vote this year."

Thanks for the explanation. We of couse already have legalised same-sex marriage here, though there are anti-campaigners as always. Maybe if they spent their time doing good works, instead of intruding into the private lives of others, the world would be just a little better place to be...
