If the power is interrupted or lost, the page will stay the same on an e-Ink screen. I agree with pidgeon92 that the battery might have died suddenly and that charging it will bring it back, however, you will probably have to replace the internal battery shortly. The unit may have a defect and should still be under warranty, I would contact Sony's tech support, here in the US they are very helpful.
