As others have said, Calibre doesn't use any abbreviations for titles. Where are you seeing these abbreviations?

Guessing: I'd say it's likely you are importing files into Calibre and have the option set to read metadata - including the title and author - from metadata stored inside the book. If that metadata from your book has funky abbreviations, that's what you will see.
