I'm....familiar with the site where that was posted. It seems legit, the poster also had news regarding upcoming authors on their roster and whatnot.
I think it's very cool of them. According to the poster in question the book postings came with the blessings of the author so there weren't any shenanigans going on.
IMO this is really no different than Baen's free library or even bands who hand out their cd outside of concerts. Eraserhead is a pretty niche publisher of bizarro and extreme horror and most of their authors seem to come from the northwest "punk"/underground scene so this is probably right in line with their political beliefs lol. It's also pretty much how bands work these days: post their music on youtube or facebook and build an audience through sharing and word of mouth.
The only caveat that was given was "hey, we don't mind if you dl our stuff, just please post a review on amazon". There have been a few other authors that gave the same stipulation.
I downloaded one of the books and in fact posted a review of it on amazon. I think that's a fair exchange for the posters generosity. I have also purchased several books from this publisher in the past and will buy more in the future because the poster was cool.
