I think that sort of thing is pretty common. I remember when I used to have garage sales, buying advertising 'kit's' with about a dozen large arrows, signs with space for addressing, and even sticky markers to put right on the road itself so cars would head for the right place. We would put an advertisement into the local newspapers announcing the sale too. No matter what, always a few people along the streets would hold their own, to benefit from out adverts.
