Thanks for the welcome! I'll try to remember to let y'all know how things are going... I've got two threads going right now on the issues of trying to figure out some kind of db of the books we've bought and which ones the kids have (that's in the general section because the original question should apply to any eReader, not just Kindles -- though it seems to have morphed into a more Kindle-specific conversation about other things), and whether the ads on the Kindle with special offers would be too obnoxious or crassly commercial to warrant spending the extra on the regular Kindles, or if the ads would be innocuous enough that we could save money to be used on more books.

I will be buying covers for the Kindles, so hopefully that will help a lot in saving on wear and tear! I guess we'll find out!

If I were to make a general thread about this project, where should I put it? The choice of Kindle is really not the most important thing, more the idea of putting eReaders into the hands of kids at home. (The main reason Kindle was chosen was because of the text-to-speech, but I don't think that's going to be major factor. I would have liked the touch Nook better, myself.)

Thanks again!
Carolyn
