Angry Question about archiving B&N book?

My Nook (original) was acting up and when I tried to update my B&N content it gave me an 800 number to call.

The operator tried several things short of re-registering, which I did not want to do for fear of losing books in My Docs.

She finally asked me what percent of memory I had used and I looked under settings and it said 77%. She suggested I archive most of my books in the B&N folder (I had over 270) to save space.

I have archived 95% of the books and my Nook is acting better. But, I just went onto settings to check my memory and now it says 78%!

What the heck is going on?????
