It's not really a relevant question, vans, because you never turn off the overwhelming majority of modern readers: Kindle, Sony, nook, Kobo, etc. All the "power switch" does is to put them to sleep. Slide the power switch again and 1-2 seconds later you're at exactly the same display you were when you "turned off". What these devices do when they boot really doesn't matter, because you DON'T boot them except in exceptional situations.
