I was always tempted not to. Once, when I was at university in the UK, I worked in a group and the only guy didn't do anything. During the project my grandma died and I had to go back to Holland for the funeral. Whilst I was at home I made the website for the project. After we had done the presentation, the only thing he did was clicking to mouse, he emailed me if I would email him the website. He could have asked me in person since he was sitting in the same computer room! Needless to say, I never did.
Luckily that teacher when working in groups asked for us to write a review about our group mates. They guy was very surprised us 3 girls got top marks and he didn't and was actually mad at us for telling the teacher he didn't do anything.
Good luck with your team member and if she doesn't participate I would tell the teacher.

thanks! i did explain, but only very briefly, and besides, they already have their own parts to do. she's a finance student like me; she should know what we want to happen by just looking at the excel chart. i replied and added that she should feel free to add any input that she has; she hasn't responded lol.
