Most eBooks do have DRM. So chances are, most eBook libraries will have a number of eBooks that were bought with DRM. Yes, you can buy Kindle compatible eBooks that do not have DRM. But, a lot of people do not know about converting. So if they want a reader that supports ePub, they either have to also keep the Kindle or lose their existing library.
