I think your problem is with the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard, though it could be a fried chip as well. If it is the ribbon cable you would need to clip it before the break and solder a new one into there, I could /maybe/ do it, though I haven't really done anything like it before. Maybe one of the EE's here will be able to help more.
