In the UK, the BBC is widely regarded as being on the skids, and a lot of people resent being forced to pay increasing amounts of hard earned money for the privilege of switching off their telly every night

These days BBC Parliament is about the only channel worth watching - and it won't be long before that's all jerky camera work, disco lighting and pro-celebrity debates
