In the UK, the BBC is widely regarded as being on the skids, and a lot of people resent being forced to pay increasing amounts of hard earned money for the privilege of switching off their telly every night .

These days BBC Parliament is about the only channel worth watching - and it won't be long before that's all jerky camera work, disco lighting and pro-celebrity debates
