On your rooted nook with CM7 ow is the battery drain? HOw long it last?
Also, I read that for CM7, you can run from a sd card. If that the case do I have to root the nook in order to run CM7?
thanks

It looks like you're holding your touch too low. For touch screen devices you usally want to hold the device where your thumb is below the middle of the screen, but above the bottom 3/4 of the screen. When you type you then have to move your thumbs to the bottom of the screen.
That said I came from a K2 background, and before that PRS-505. I now have a nookColor. One thing I will say about the Kindle vs nook is the Kindle tends to make the software reading experience better than the nook, but the nook hardware is usually better, excluding the first nook.
Every device is going to have strengths and weakness, for instance I really like the way the sony ergonomics, it's buttons press/long press use, the bookmarks, TOC, and Collections much more than the K2.
However the K2 dictionary, 3G, search/wiki/google, Text-To-Speech, annotations much more than the SONY so I stuck with the K2.
I really did not like the nookCOLOR software, however when I upgraded to Android 2.2(nookie) and then 2.3(CM7). The nook became a great choice. It's a 7" tablet where I can read MOBI, ePUB, and PDF using the best Android software on the market.
