If, like me, yiou don't speak" legalese", check with your broker if you used one, or just ring the company .

I ran over my own newly purchased camera (don't ask !) and only "paid" my £50 excess, but got £270 towards the replacement - no increased premium (which is normal).
My home insurance policy has a $500 deductible for any claim. A new reader, even at the very expensive Canadian price of $199.99 is still cheaper than paying my $500 deductible. I don't need to speak legalese to know what my deductible is. Yes it certainly is worth checking out but I would think most home insurance policies have a deductible higher than $100 so there'd be no value in making a claim, just go buy the thing.
