The second in the Templar series is quite different from the first. The pacing is different and it has a different feel. I think you'll like it, (I liked it but did not love it.) I think you might do okay reading something else and then coming back to book 2 and 3 in Templar--I say that because I think book 2 is kind of an inbetween book for the series.
