If amazon is doing this to get publishers on board for the new textbook rental thing, then they should apply this new DRM to the textbooks only and leave other books alone. I could see how cracking the drm on textbooks would appeal to poor college students that are robbed blind with textbook fees.
Still don't see how textbooks will be usable on the kindle or even the DX. When I was in school and taking lots of math and science courses, using a tablet would have been not practical. I flip around alot in reference books and textbooks and not read straight through. Plus they are going to have that whole monthly rental thing. Doesn't sound like it will work to me, but I am not in school anymore so who knows?
