Hi, Neil.

If it's not your thing, it's not your thing. To each their own. I know quite a few people who find it confusing. They definitely need to work on the complexity problem before the big release.

Having said that, I'm not sure which kind of canned messages you're referring to, but if you keep getting notifications from Google+, you can turn those off in your Google+ settings. I have mine set up so that Google+ basically doesn't e-mail me at all.
