Run System Profile. Macs produced between the switch to Intel processors (2005/2006) and mid-2010 boot into 32-bit mode for compatibility reasons, but can be booted into 64-bit mode if you want. Macs produced after that time boot into 64-bit mode by default and require a special key press if you need 32 bit mode.

I'm pretty sure the software won't run at all on a PowerPC Mac.
