I was able to get my Touch to power itself on if I first manually powered the reader off while a book was open. i.e. in reading mode It did not happen if I let the reader power itself off using the auto sleep and auto power-off settings. Is this what is happening for you? i.e. the problem only occurs if a manual power-off is done from reading mode.
